Meet the Team

  • CHEF VIKAS KHANNA

    PARTNER

Chef Vikas Khanna is one of the most celebrated culinary figures of his generation. Born in Amritsar and trained across the world, he has earned Michelin stars, authored over 40 books, and built a body of work that spans fine dining, documentary film, and large-scale humanitarian effort.

At Bungalow, his vision is personal. Every dish draws from the regional traditions of India, reinterpreted with precision and served with the warmth that has always defined his cooking. To dine here is to experience a lifetime of devotion to a single question: what does Indian cuisine look like at its absolute finest.

  • JIMMY RIZVI

    PROPRIETOR

Jimmy Rizvi is the visionary behind Bungalow and the driving force of one of New York City's most acclaimed restaurant groups, which includes GupShup, Chote Miya, and Ammi. Born in India and shaped by a deep reverence for its culinary heritage, Rizvi has built his restaurants around a single conviction: that the stories behind the food matter as much as the food itself.

With Bungalow, he brings that conviction to life through the lens of Independence-era India, drawing from the traditions, textures, and flavors of a world that is at once nostalgic and entirely new. It is the first restaurant of its kind in North America, and a dining experience unlike anything else in the city.

  • SAMEER BHATT

    GENERAL MANAGER / PARTNER

Sameer Bhatt was raised in New Delhi, where hospitality is not a profession but a way of life. That early experience became the foundation for a career built around the belief that exceptional service is as important as exceptional food.

Sameer went on to train at the Institute of Culinary Education in New York before building a resume that spans some of the city's most respected dining rooms, including GupShup, Eleven Madison Park, and Le Pavillon under Chef Daniel Boulud. At Bungalow, he brings together the heart of Indian hospitality and the precision of world-class service, creating an experience that feels both elevated and genuinely warm.

  • SHAILA RIZVI

    CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Shaila Rizvi shapes the world that guests step into at Bungalow. As the creative force behind the restaurant's visual identity, she has overseen every detail, from the antique library and hand-picked cutlery to the design language that transports diners to Independence-era India.

A renowned interior designer and creative strategist, Shaila brings a rare ability to translate a concept into an environment that feels lived-in, intentional, and wholly original. Her work at Bungalow is not decoration. It is storytelling.
